“To Love A Queen” by Michel Legrand

Michel Legrand has become one of my favorite composers, this love theme from the underrated 1973 Three Musketeers being one of my favorite pieces of his. It bespeaks of a kind of romance that aches as much as it exhilarates. It especially gives the doomed relationship between D’Artagnan and Constance a sense of poignancy from the beginning, the sense that it will one day be nothing but a sweet, sad memory.

Oh jeez, I’m getting a bit cheesy. Still, what’s life without a little cheese?
