Trailer for Blast of Silence (dir. Allen Baron, 1961)

Blast of Silence is a gem of a B-noir: gritty, bleak, and violent. To date, it’s my favorite film noir, even if some of the performances are a little awkward and the voice over narration can get corny. The big question is this: is Blast of Silence a classic noir, a neo-noir, or something different, transitional? In a way, the film is quite self-aware with the tropes of noir, yet it also plays so many of them straight. What do you guys think?
